Synopsis

My Brother Tom is the story of two teenagers, Tom and Jessica. When they meet, Jessica becomes both anxious and intrigued by Tom’s darker side. The forest is his holy domain where he hides from misery and oppression at home. He and Jessica form a powerful bond in which no compromise is possible. This bond cannot survive, however, when one of them changes and the other does not. Dom Rotheroe, already a successful documentary-maker, aimed in this feature debut to capture the intensity and intimacy of the relationship between the main heroes. To this end he opted for a digital handycam, entrusted to Robby Müller, the Dutch veteran who has previously worked with Jim Jarmusch, Wim Wenders and Lars von Trier.

About the director

Dom Rotheroe studied photography, film and video at Harrow College in London. He then left for Bosnia with his video camera in order to make a documentary. He has also made documentaries in Rio de Janeiro and East Timor. My Brother Tom is his first feature.
