Synopsis

Boga is a young man living in the endless meanders and tributaries of the Paraná river in northern Argentina. He earns his living as a fisherman. When his father dies, Boga accepts it as part of the cycle of life, but acknowledges his new-found freedom. He sets out in his boat without any real destination. On the way he sees other inhabitants of the river, a river he regards as his own. But his river is not an isolated paradise: the towering skyscrapers of Buenos Aires are clearly visible in the background. Boga meets a man, El Pampa, who has been shot and thinks he is going to die. He asks Boga to take some money to a woman named La Estela, a task which sparks off a series of brutal events...

About the director

Sergio Diego Bellotti started as a producer: he produced a number of commercials between 1981 and 1993, then he went on to produce films. In 1999 he directed his first feature, Tesoro mío. Sudeste is his second feature film.
