Synopsis
Long ago, 86-year-old Auguste got together with 88-year-old Marie; today she suffers from Alzheimer’s disease. This black-and-white film presents a subtle and sensitive portrayal of a silent love between two aging people as manifested in tender gesturesbouns to a life experienced in the motionless, timeless Belgian countryside.
About the director
Gabriel Vanderpas (b. 1981) studied at the Institut National de Radioélectricité et Cinématographie in Brussels (2000-03). He has tried his hand at several film professions, among them stills photographer (Through the Walls of the Heart -see Karlovy Vary IFF 2002), assistant director and cameraman. Selected filmography: Le trou (2001), August & Marie (2002), St-Nicolas ne viendra pas (2003), Turron de Chapapote (2003).
The film was shot and the script was written in cooperation with six students of the Brussel= s Film School INRACI.
