Synopsis

Director Zdeněk N. Bričkovský sets off to the northernmost part of European Russia to make a “documentary about dreams, the tundra and the nomadic nation of European Nenets”. Even though the majority of Nenets lives in settlements, with the aid of a helicopter, he finally manages to find one of the last itinerant families still cultivating the traditional way of life.

About the director

Zdeněk Bričkovský (1968) studied film direction at FAMU in Prague and graduated in 1996. In 1999 he established DÓMfilm, a company which produces documentary films. His work chiefly focuses on the small, little known nations of Europe and Asia, their traditions, religions and ordinary way of life. Through his documentaries he seeks to hand over this disappearing ancient legacy to the present. To date he has made around 26 documentary films.
