Film Selection

The Karlovy Vary IFF presents over 180 feature films from all over the world every year. Apart from the films in the special retrospectives, most of the films are screened in the Czech Republic each year for the first time, many of them in their world, international or European premiere as well. This year again, the audience will have chance to see interesting retrospectives and focuses apart from the traditional program sections.

The films selected for the 47th Karlovy Vary IFF 2012 will be announced in June 2012.

Official Selection – Competition of Feature Films

Only films made after January 1, 2011 may be included; the films are presented as world, international or European premieres.

East of the West - Films in Competition

Feature-length films from Central and Eastern Europe as well as the former Soviet Union

Documentary Films in Competition

Both short (under 30 minutes) and feature-length (over 30 minutes)

Forum of Independents

Independent films from around the world compete for Independent Camera Award presented in collaboration with Czech Television

and following non-competitive categories:

The recent productions from around the world, including award-winning films from major festivals
