KV IFF cooperates with charity organizations
The Centrum Paraple is the official charitable partner of the 45th International Film Festival in Karlovy Vary.
At the beginning of nineties, Mr. Zdeněk Svěrák together with the members of NGO “Svaz Paraplegiků – the Union of Paraplegics“ decided to create an organization that would help and support people with spinal cord injuries from all over the Czech Republic. In October 1994, they opened the Centrum Paraple - an information, counselling and physiotherapy centre for clients with spinal cord injuries in Prague 10 – Malešice. An account – the “Konto Paraple“ – was set up to help finance the centre activities at the same time. Mr. Zdeněk Svěrák became the President of the Administration Board of the Konto Paraple. This body supervises the efficient utilization of the donors´ finance. The Centrum Paraple also tries to raise awareness of those living with spinal cord injuries and regularly asks the public to give support to the centre activities. This is done via “Dobročinná akademie – a Charitable Academy“, an annual programme, broadcasted by the Czech Television and the Czech Radio on the 28th of October, and by the “Běh pro Paraple – a Run for Paraple.“ Both events are presented by Mr. Zdeněk Svěrák.
Having chance to be an Official charitable partner of the 45th International Film Festival in Karlovy Vary this year, the annual Prague Run for Paraple is held in Karlovy Vary at Mlýnská kolonáda by exception, on the 6th of July 2010. Profits will support the equipment and activities of the new building of the Centrum Paraple. As usual, the public will be greeted by Mr. Zdeněk Svěrák. This year, the event will also be accompanied by a “Film Star Run“.

Karlovy Vary IFF cooperates with charity organizations
The Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, one of the most followed cultural events in the Czech Republic provides a long-term support to and cooperates with organizations active in charity activities.
KV IFF offers to organizations such as foundations and charities an opportunity to share the media attractive space and to address a large number of visitors of the festival while presenting their publicly beneficial programs and projects.
Each year, an organizational statute is awarded to one organization, e.g. „Foundation of the 45th KVIFF“.
The KV IFF supports the selected organization in the form of provision of space for presentation, advertisement and fund raising during the festival. The selected organization has an opportunity to present at the festival its focus, projects, organize fundraisers for the festival’s visitors, sell goods for the benefit of charity projects, etc.
The selected organization should cooperate with KV IFF primarily in the form of presentation through a public cultural event organized for the visitors of the festival, that may become a part of the accompanying event highlights of the festival (e.g. concert, etc.)
All activities of the organization within the KV IFF and any sponsors of the events need to be consulted with and approved by the KV IFF’s representatives.
