Film Entry

PLEASE KINDLY NOTE that the application deadline is approaching! Only those applicants whose DVDs are posted before April 17th, 2009 will be considered for the 44th Karlovy Vary IFF.

The regular program of the Karlovy Vary IFF consists of:

Official Selection - Competition of Feature Films
Only 35mm films made after the January 1, 2008 which have not been previously shown in an international competition of another film festival can be included; the films must be presented as World, International or European Premieres
Documentary Films in Competition
Both short and full length
East of the West - Films in Competition
Feature-length films from Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union
Forum of Independents
Independent films from around the world compete for Independent Camera Award

and following non-competitive categories:

Open Eyes (the latest outstanding works)
Horizons (the recent productions from around the world)
Another View (films revealing unusual artistic approaches)
Variety Critics´ Choice (ten European films selected by the critics of the Variety magazine)
Czech Films

The program also includes a number of focuses, retrospectives and tributes that change every year.

Submitting a film

Before applying please read the festival regulations

If you want to submit a film, please fill out the on-line registration form and then send us a screener of your film with a tag saying “NO COMMERCIAL VALUE – FOR CULTURAL PURPOSES ONLY“. The Program Committee will then carry out the selection. In order to be able to fill out the registration form, you must log in. If you do not have log in access, please register here.

The festival does not charge any entry fee.
Only films produced in 2008 and 2009 can be presented at the festival. The festival does not accept short films (except for the Documentary films in Competition).
Once we receive your DVD, you will get a notification by e-mail.
IF THE FILM IS SELECTED, YOU WILL OBTAIN THE OFFICIAL ENTRY FORM.
