Meet TFL – The State of the Industry
Thursday 6 July, 4:30–6pm / Industry Pool, Hotel Thermal
Over the years, many talented individuals have crossed paths with TorinoFilmLab, the year-round international lab based in Turin, Italy. Each of them came with their own experiences and with a willingness to share their visions and questions with fellow members of the TFL community. During this extraordinary meeting, instructors, alumni and staff from TorinoFilmLab will come together on stage to share their view of the state of the industry in 2017. How can good dialogue illuminate your characters, move your plot forward and develop relationships? What is the VR revolution and how can we embrace it? What is happening with television series? These are some of the subjects that we will explore during the second part of Meet TFL.

LISTENING AS A CREATIVE ACT
Aleksandra Świerk – Alumni
Description: Listening seems to be one of pretty much underestimated parts of development process. Producers, directors, writers, script consultants are often taught how to talk and discuss, yet there’s still not much focus put on the way we listen to each other, what we hear and how this can shape our mutual understanding.
THE WRITER IS THE NEW KING
Eilon Ratzkovsky – Tutor
Description: Since the beginning of the golden era in TV, almost 2 decades ago, the role of the script writer has changed enormously - from somebody that was always in the shadow of the director, and in extreme cases - not even credited - to someone who is the “creator” of the work - the one person who decides everything - from choosing director/s to producer/s and so much more. But do these people want/can handle the new position?
