Synopsis

Twenty-four thousand Brazilian troops fought in Italy during World War Two. The biggest battles took place at Monte Castello and during the taking of Montessa. Brazilian soldiers had to face tough German units but also the harsh European winter. The film records the reminiscences of several who survived, among them telegraph operator Miguel Pereira (who remained in Italy after the war), important artist Carlos Scliar, journalist Joel Silveira and General Meira Mattos. In February 2000 the film crew set out for Italy to seek out remaining Brazilian war veterans.
