Synopsis

Andrzej. 43 years old. An amateur mime. Korean director Kim Hye-jee’s short film captures his fleeting poetic impressions, his intimate notions about himself and the world. An inconspicuous celebration of the silent expressiveness of the body offered through six minutes in the presence of Andrzej’s melancholy gaze. 

The ascetic, sharply cut face of mime Andrzej Zuczkowski. Eloquent slender fingers round out the communication offered by his well-trained body. We see him among young mime fans, in crowds on the street, sequestered at home, enjoying nature. At one time he wanted to distinguish himself from the mass; he wrote poetry but eventually settled on the language of the body and gesture, speech truer than words. There he escaped his bitterness over the world’s evil in order to regain its beauty. He has a daughter in France whom he doesn’t know. But he knows the story of the suffering Pierrot and the theatre which has forever captured his heart.

About the director

Kim Hye-jee (b. 1978, Seoul, Korea) studied theatre and film at Han-Yang University in 1997-2000. Since 2002 she has been training as a director at the Polish National Filmschool (PWSFTViT) in Lodz. Filmography: Man and Woman (1999, short) Little Disturbed (2000, short), Gaze (2004, short doc).
