Synopsis
Er Di is the town celebrity – but only because after multiple attempts he finally succeeded in emigrating to the West, to the USA. He manages to live there for a few years until, unfortunately, he is caught and forced to return. Back in his hometown he spends his days as a slacker, busy doing nothing. He’s only got two things on his mind: his son and Xiao Nu, a girl from a travelling Shanghai opera troupe, another lonely soul living a life without a future. Something akin to romance develops between them, but not even this has any future.
