Synopsis

Greek cinema’s first zombie pic Evil delivers the genre goods. Three construction workers exploring an underground cavern get infected by an (unseen) evil presence. Back home, one attacks and eats his wife, though his teen daughter, Jenny (Mary Tsoni), escapes with the help of an athletic neighbor, Marina (Pepi Moskhovakou). Another worker causes a zombie outbreak at a soccer match. Andreas (Nikos Sabalis) escapes and is rescued at a crucial moment by the spunky Dimitra (Stavroula Thomopoulou), who is returning home in a cab driven by the mouthy Argyris (Argyris Thanassoulas). As night turns into day, the various parties meet up and are joined by a heavily armed Meletis (Meletis Georgiadis). First feature by 29-year-old writer-director Yorgos Noussias is basically one long chase movie, with no time wasted on explanations.
