Synopsis

Alice is thirteen. She refuses to turn into a woman, and certainly does not want to become like her mother. She flattens the first signs of a bosom and throws up all her food. Alice suffers from anorexia.

About the director

Sophie Schoukens was born in Belgium, but started her career as an actress in New York. After her return to Europe she became a film producer and was involved in several award-winning international coproductions. She worked for the MEDIA programme for six years. In 2005 she decided to leave her job in order to fulfil her dream of becoming a film director. Alice or Life in Black and White (2005) is her first film.
