Synopsis

The organism of music, the organism of the composer: can one serve as a metaphor for the other? Intrepid composer Ilja Zeljenka was Slovakia’s leading name in film music. This half-hour piece, both lyrical contemplation and valuable testimony, is chiefly structured around his music and interviews conducted shortly before his death.

About the director

Ivan Ostrochovský (b. 1972, Žilina, Slovakia) graduated from Bratislava’s Academy of Performing Arts. His documentary work includes Screenplay for a Documentary Film (Scenár k dokumentárnemu filmu, 2001) and The Lesser Evil (Menšie zlo, 2004). He was involved as coproducer on the documentaries Matchmaking Mayor (Nesvatbov, 2010, dir. Erika Hníková) and As Far as the Town of Aš (Až do mesta Aš, 2010, dir. Iveta Grofová).
