12:00 – 13:30, Press Conference Hall, Thermal Hotel
- Czech Film Center is organizing a panel discussion during the 2010 Karlovy Vary International Film Festival on the topical subject of promoting minority co-productions. This year, for the first time since its inception, the Czech State Fund for the Support and Development of Czech Cinematography has allocated €1 million to the Fund for European minority co-productions. Most EU member states have had support mechanisms for minority co-productions, whether regional or national funds, for a number of years. The long-term goal of these funds is to stimulate the country’s national cinema and film industry. One way to achieve this stimulation is to support minority projects with resources from regional or national funds.
- Their visions, specific experiences and the benefits of minority co-productions for the AV sector in Central Europe will discuss:
Přemysl Šoba (Czech State Fund for the Support and Development of Czech Cinematography)
Peter Zawrel (Filmfond Wien, Austria)
Christiane Sommer (Filmförderungsanstalt, Germany)
