Its film adaptation, made in 1947 by director Claude Autant-Lara and starring young Micheline Presle and Gerard Philip, was perceived in a similar manner. We present the film, succinctly expressing the feelings of the generation growing up during the Second World War, in an honor of Micheline Presle who visits this year’s Festival as the representative of the competing film Hitler in Hollywood.
