Press services

The press center:

  • is located on the first floor of Hotel Thermal and is for the exclusive use of Press accreditation holders
  • provides accredited journalists with the comprehensive services and technical facilities necessary for their work at the festival: laptops with internet access, hookups for personal laptops, printers, copiers, and information about using other services (Fotolab, fax, ISDN, video library)
  • offers information about festival current events, accepts requests for individual interviews, registers journalists for the text message service, and arranges meetings with other festival departments. It also provides press releases, up-to-date program changes, a schedule of journalist screenings and added screenings, information on the accompanying program and events for journalists, press kits, etc.
  • is open from 8 AM to 10 PM, when the press center staff is available to help journalists

The video and audio service offers the following:

  • TV and sound equipment rental, including entire crews
  • festival audio and visual materials (interviews)
  • footage processing (editing room, transcription)
  • distribution of trailers

Press conferences

  • Press conferences take place daily in the press conference hall located on the ground floor of Hotel Thermal; all accredited journalists will be admitted
  • Press conferences feature simultaneous interpretation, with headphones located at the entrance; technicians will be available to help hook up recording equipment
  • A preliminary program will be available on this website and in the press center (the program is regularly updated by means of the daily plan, and the organizers reserve the right to make changes)
  • In order to prevent frequency clashes from interfering with reception during press conferences, we will minimize the number of outside wireless microphones on the speakers’ table. Please use the audio distribution equipment provided in the press room (an XLR connector is required)
  • If the room does not fill up with journalists, other festival participants will be admitted to press conferences

Interviews, press junkets, KVIFF talks

  • If you are interested in interviewing one of the Karlovy Vary festival organizers prior to the start of the festival, please contact us at press@kviff.com
  • Press conferences are held in order to meet with movie stars and festival guests. Press conferences are organized, as time and schedules allow, with all celebrities visiting the festival
  • One-on-one interviews are rarely granted, although in certain cases roundtable discussions are organized. You may request an interview at the press center or by contacting us at press@kviff.com – filling out a request form, however, does not automatically guarantee a one-on-one interview or participation in a roundtable discussion
  • KVIFF talks offer another opportunity to meet filmmakers (program posted prior to the start of the festival)

Taking photographs

  • Photographers have designated times and places for taking photographs: prior to the start of press conferences, before the festival’s gala opening and closing ceremonies, on the red carpet leading to the entrance of the Great Hall in Hotel Thermal before evening showings presented by guest delegations, and during the gala opening and closing ceremonies if you are seated in the first row of the Great Hall
  • One-on-one photo sessions are granted at the discretion of our guests and must be arranged through the festival’s PR or press departments
  • If they so desire, photographers may receive text messages about the arrival of selected foreign guests
