How to festival

If you plan on visiting the Karlovy Vary festival, you ought to know that...

  • All information about the festival appears in advance on these web pages. If you don´t want to miss any news, sign up for our free newsletters or become a fan on Facebook.
  • Information about this year’s film selection isregularly updated beginning in February. All films appear on our web pages until mid-June, along with the complete film catalogue and the screening schedule. You can put together your own program before you leave for the festival with the help of My Program, a screening schedule service.
  • Festival visitors can take advantage of the Festival Pass. It can be purchased at any ticket office and used immediately to buy tickets
  • Ten percent of tickets will be available for purchase before the festival through advance booking
  • Accommodation should be booked well in advance, preferably as early as April
  • Regulations regarding ticket sales and governing film screenings are subject to slight changes each year and we advise you to familiarize yourself with them before arriving at the festival
  • Journalists can apply for Press accreditation between April 16 and June 6, 2012. You will not be able to use festival press services without press accreditation
  • Film Professionals may apply for  Industry accreditation between April 16 and June 6, 2012. You will not be able to use festival industry office services without industry accreditation

At the festival:

  • The festival center in Hotel Thermal includes the festival pass sales point, box offices, cinemas, an information point, accommodation services and festival offices
  • You can help decide which film wins the Audience Award by voting during the festival (at all cinema entrances) 
  • Audience Award votes can be handed to festival assistants after the screening or dropped in the provided boxes
  • The festival offers visitors a large variety of festival events. The program will be published by mid-June
  • Special bus lines F1, F2 and F3 will be available during the entire film festival
  • You can also rent Specialized bicycles for getting around during the festival
  • You can visit the festival with your children 
  • A baggage room will be available from 8AM to 3AM near the main cinema exit at Hotel Thermal for CZK 10/bag
  • The festival center at Hotel Thermal also includes a festival shop offering festival T-shirts, bags, mugs, official festival catalogues, programs, DVDs and books from Czech and foreign publishers
