Documentary Film Jury

The Documentary Jury who will be presenting the prizes in the competition of documentary films this year will comprise distinguished figures from the international film world.

Fabrizio Grosoli – Chairman of the Jury

Fabrizio GrosoliFabrizio Grosoli works as a journalist, film critic, producer and television manager. In the years 1999 to 2001 he was a member of the selection committee for the Venice IFF and the International Festival of Documentary Films in Turin (1998, 2002). He headed the Riminicinema IFF for almost ten years (1988–1997). He also worked as manager and consultant for the television channel Tele+ (1990–2003). In the years 1985–1990 he was deputy Editor-in-Chief of the film monthly CIAK. He is also head of the documentary section of the leading Italian production and distribution company Fandango.

 

Jana Boková

Jana BokováJana Boková is a native of Prague but, from 1968, she, lived in France, Great Britain, the United States and Argentina. She was awarded a doctorate, in which she specialised in photography and Surrealism. She continued as a photographer for magazines such as Rolling Stone. Her extensive filmography includes the documentaries Just One More War (1977), Marika and Marevna (1977–78), Living Room (1978), I Look Like This (1979), Quinn Running (1980), Dallas: The Big Store (1981), Sunset People (1983), Havana (1989–90), Avignon (1999) and The Tango Salon (2002/2003). She made the feature films Hôtel du Paradis (1986) and Diario para un cuento (1998), which was screened at Karlovy Vary in 1999.

 

Tine Fischer

Tine FischerTine Fischer, Programme Director of the international documentary film festival CPH:DOX, founded in 2002, took courses in film and media studies at the university of Copenhagen. She was programme editor for the Danish Film Institute from 1996, where she was in charge of selecting art-house, experimental and documentary films. Over the past ten years she has organised a large number of seminars, workshops and projects focused on documentary filmmaking. She established the distribution company “dox-on-wheels” in 2006.

 

Marek Hovorka

Marek HovorkaMarek Hovorka studied at the Film Academy in Prague (FAMU), specialising in documentary film. His filmography includes five short and medium-length films, for example, Watchmen: Freedom Is Slavery (Watchmen: Svoboda je otroctví, 2001) and The Transformation of Angels into Parents, Pensioners and Corpses (Proměny andělů v rodiče, důchodce a mrtvoly, 2001). In 1997 he co-founded the International Documentary Film Festival in Jihlava, of which he has been director for many years. He is also on the editorial board of the specialist periodicals focused on documentary filmmaking Do and Dok.revue.

 

Guntis Trekteris

Guntis TrekterisGuntis Trekteris studied economics at university in Latvia and then worked as a journalist. As producer and director, he headed the first Latvian independent production company Kaupo Filma. He has produced more than 30 documentaries and 5 feature films, among them, the documentary The Egg Lady (Olu kundze, dir. Una Celma, 2000) and the feature film Leaving by the Way (Pa celam ajzelot, dir. Viesturs Kairišs, 2001). Both films were screened in competition at the Karlovy Vary IFF. Guntis Trekteris is currently Chairman of the Latvian Film Council and Vice-President of the Association of Latvian Producers.
