What's happening Saturday


The Boat That Rocked The Karlovy Vary film festival culminates on Saturday evening with the gala closing ceremonies. The event will feature the presentation of Crystal Globes, followed by a screening of the music comedy The Boat That Rocked, the festival's final film.

On Saturday the final Master Class will take place at 1:30 PM in the Radio 1 YouTube Lounge, Hotel Thermal, first-floor terrace
The guest will be Ivory Coast-born American actor Isaach de Bankolé, winner of the French national César Award for Most Promising Actor (in Black Mic Mac). The popular actor is here at the 44th KVIFF to present the distribution pre-premiere of independent film icon Jim Jarmusch's The Limits of Control. Isaach de Bankolé's most interesting roles include appearances in Lars von Trier's Mandalay, the Bond vehicle Casino Royale, Julian Schnabel's The Diving Bell and the Butterfly, and The Guitar by Amy Redford, screened last year in the competition at the KVIFF. The Master Class will be held in English.

On Saturday the final Reflex magazine interview will also take place. You too may come and ask anything you like! Reflex Point, T. G. Masaryka St. 3 at 4 PM.
Pavlína Wolfová, deputy editor-in-chief of Reflex magazine, will talk with Zuzana Mináčová, legendary Slovak photographer, who has been capturing film festival happenings, including Karlovy Vary, for more than 40 years.
