Come and greet the stars on the red carpet

The parade of famous guests arriving for the Karlovy Vary film festival will kick off on Saturday early evening with the world premiere of A Walk Worthwhile by Miloš Forman. The celebrated director will be joined on the red carpet in front of the Thermal hotel by actors from the film, which the director based on his own stage production of the same name. Festival visitors can thus look forward to seeing the likes of Jiří Suchý, Dáša Zázvůrková and Tereza Hálová.

Renowned French actress Isabelle Huppert will be presenting her film on Sunday. The President of this year’s main jury at Cannes will arrive in Vary with the competition film Villa Amalia by director Benoît Jacquot. She will introduce her film on Sunday and will receive the Crystal Globe for Outstanding Artistic Contribution to World Cinema.

Tuesday evening in Karlovy Vary will be set aside for the world premiere of the new horror by director Juraj Herz. He’ll be introducing his film T.M.A. (Darkness) together with a sizable delegation of filmmakers and actors comprising screenwriter Martin Němec, main lead Ivan Franěk and actress Lenka Krobotová, Slovak actor Andrej Hryc and Polish actress Małgorzata Kozuchowska.

More star guests will be arriving for the close of the festival. On Friday in the early evening, the Crystal Globe for Outstanding Artistic Contribution to World Cinema will be presented to American film and stage actor John Malkovich. On this occasion he will also present his directorial effort The Dancer Upstairs.

Friday will also see the arrival at the festival of actor Antonio Banderas, who will be presented with the Festival President’s Award. The name behind numerous celebrated roles in films by Pedro Almodóvar and Hollywood hits will on Friday introduce his own film as a director, Summer Rain.
