July 10, 2010, 6:00 PM

Film screenings at Karlovy Vary end today. But you will be able to see certain movies from this year´s program, many times if you wish, because they´ll be put into Czech distribution in the coming months.

Two visually striking movies, A Single Man and Mr. Nobody, will be the first two in theaters, beginning July 15. The action comedy Knight and Day, screened at Karlovy Vary as a film surprise, will premiere July 29. In mid-August, non-festival viewers will get a chance to see Heaven, Hell, a Czech documentary on sadomasochism, followed a week later by the Coen brothers’ black comedy A Serious Man. The romantic comedy Heartbreaker, today´s festival closer, will hit theaters on August 26. At the beginning of September, you can look forward to Ondine starring Colin Farrell and a mermaid, not to mention Nikita Mikhalkov’s epic Burnt by the Sun 2: Exodus. Before the year is out, Thomas Vinterberg’s Submarino will arrive, as will Howl about Allen Ginsberg.

Czech distributors have also opted for Chloe, On the Path, The Illusionist, The Killer inside Me, White Material, Red Hill, Heartbeats, Crazy Heart, and the audience hits Four Lions, Friendship!, and Tucker & Dale vs Evil, some of which will most likely only be released in the Czech Republic on DVD.
