KVIFF Distribution brings Jarmusch’s Paterson to cinemas

Paterson, the latest film by “king of American independent film” Jim Jarmusch, is now in Czech theatres. This low-key poetic drama, in which Jarmusch continues to develop themes he first explored in his central films from the 1990s, was first shown at this year’s Cannes Film Festival and enters into Czech theatre just a few days after its U.S. premiere. Paterson was one of the main attractions of this year’s festival in Karlovy Vary and is the seventh film to be distributed by KVIFF Distribution, a joint project of the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, Czech Television and Aerofilms.

“For several years now, the films of Jim Jarmusch have been a mainstay of the festival programme in Karlovy Vary. This exceptional filmmaker has a strong fan base in the Czech Republic, and so each of his films is exceptionally well received. We are glad that thanks to KVIFF Distribution we can now present his new film Paterson, which we screened as part of the 51th Karlovy Vary IFF, to audiences that missed the chance to see it in Karlovy Vary. And I am convinced that many of those who saw it at the festival, will gladly watch it again, because Jim Jarmusch is undoubtedly a filmmaker who is constantly moving the cinematic arts forward and who has had a long-term influence not only on generations of viewers, but also on filmmakers throughout the world,” says KVIFF’s president Jiří Bartoška.
