Lonely John Turturro

July 8, 2011, 3:00 PM

The world premiere of conversation drama about loneliness, Somewhere Tonight, brought to the festival John Turturro, a famous American actor known not only from the Cohen brothers movies. But the star and recipient of this year’s President’s Award did not want to talk about the Cohens at today’s press conference. All members of the delegation were clearly happy and thankful to have managed to make Somewhere Tonight in half the regular time and for half the money. They wanted to promote the film screened in Vary tonight in world premiere.

The story of two loners is after Interview and Blind Date the third American film based on the original of controversial Dutch filmmaker Theo van Gogh murdered in 2004. “It is not a remake, more of a sequel of 06/05. I have focused more on the isolation theme and used a more humanistic approach,” said director Michael Di Jiacomo, pointing out the differences between his film and the original.

The story about two people that meet through a sex line brought together John Turturro and his life partner Katherine Browitz, who came with him to Vary. In addition to discussing the difficulties of playing strangers when knowing each other so well, they also talked out problems of today’s film distribution.
