Synopsis

Los Angeles, 2029. The United States is decimated by a nuclear holocaust launched by the artificial intelligence computer Skynet. The last gasp of the human resistance use their remaining strength to fight off the persistent attacks of the machines. But Skynet decides to send a terminator back in time to 1995 in order to kill John Connor, the charismatic and indefatigable leader of the resistance when he is still a young boy living with his adoptive parents. And so the resistance places its last hopes in an older terminator model, the T-800, which they send into the past to protect young Connor. James Cameron’s timeless science-fiction masterpiece, which has been required viewing for several generations of moviegoers, is back on the big screen. For the first time presented in 3D and with a brand new remastered version, you can see why Terminator 2: Judgment Day is often called the best sequel of all time – even if not viewed on a worn-out VHS cassette.

About the director

James Cameron

James Cameron (b. 1954, Kapuskasing, Canada) made his feature-film debut with Piranha 2: The Spawning (1981) – a film which gave no indication that during the 1980s and 1990s he would direct a series of films that would fundamentally change the nature of Hollywood, popular culture and science fiction. Nevertheless, his next project Terminator (1984) was a commercial success. There followed a series of movies of which most people have seen at least one: Aliens (1986), The Abyss (1989), Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991), True Lies (1994), Titanic (1997) and Avatar (2009), for which he is currently preparing four sequels. Besides being a director, producer, screenwriter, philanthropist, deep-ocean researcher, and probably the richest film director around today, he is also an environmental and vegan activist.
