Three projects presented to film professionals at the 53rd Karlovy Vary International Film Festival will begin the next stage of their festival life with premiere screenings at this year’s Berlin International Film Festival. Two of the films previously competed as part of KVIFF Eastern Promises: Works in Progress – the Iranian-Czech project NASHT (Leakage) by director Suzan Iravanian and Romanian director Marius Olteanu’s debut film MONSTRI (Monsters) will be shown in the Berlinale’s Forum section.
The winner of last year’s Eurimages Lab Project Award for non-traditional formats, director Adele Tulli’s Italian-Swedish film NORMAL, left Karlovy Vary with a cash award of 50,000 euros. At the Berlinale, it will be shown in the Panorama section.
The aim of KVIFF Eastern Promises is to promote quality projects from Central and Eastern Europe and the Near East, or to award films that are not shot using traditional approaches.
