Synopsis
Kateřina Šedá often invents unusual artistic games. She initiates programmes for others which changes their view of the world and art. Copying is an edited recording taken from three 24-hour performances. Parents and their grown-up child voluntarily synchronise their actions. They perform a normal activity in parallel with their opposite number and get to know the nature and rhythm of his or her life. The film is presented as part of the series Loyal Guard: New Czech Videoart.
About the director
Kateřina Šedá (b. 1977) exhibits at documenta 12 (Kassel, 2007). “I never wanted to show my work in galleries, my dreams are elsewhere. Much more exciting for me is the idea that a myth can emerge in a specific place, that my actions will become a habit that people will want to repeat.” Works include Sleeping on Graves (1999), There’s Nothing There (2003), It Doesn’t Matter (2005). Winner of the Jindřich Chalupecký Prize (2005) and the Essl Award (2005).
