Three blind sisters sing on the streets of Campino Grande in the Brazilian state of Paraiba in order to earn enough to survive. In spite of their disability they view the world with optimism. The movie won Best Documentary at the Rio de Janeiro IFF (1999), the Audience Award for Best Documentary and the Special Jury Prize at Recife, Brazil, Best Latin-American Documentary Film at Bilbao (1999) and Honourable Mention (for a short film) at the Golden Gate Awards in San Francisco (2000).
About the director
Roberto Berliner (b. 1957) graduated in communications, and later in journalism from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. In 1978 he began to work in film. For eight years he was director of Anteve, a firm specialising in music documentaries. His 1988 documentary Angola received the Special Prize from the Centre International de Creation Vidéo Montbéliard Belfort. He founded TV Zero in 1993.
