Tribute to Benicio Del Toro
Year: 2022
Director Steven Soderbergh’s Traffic is a fascinating tale of the drug trade told from the perspective of everyone involved: politicians, police, smugglers, and end users. Soderbergh gives everyone their own story, which cleverly intertwines with all the others on the US-Mexico border. Excelling in this star-studded crime drama are Michael Douglas, Benicio Del Toro, and Catherine Zeta-Jones.
Synopsis
Director Steven Soderbergh’s Traffic is a fascinating story about the drug trade told from the perspectives of everyone involved: politicians, police, smugglers, and end users. Soderbergh gives everyone their own story, which cleverly intertwines with all the others on the US-Mexico border. The result is a complex narrative that justifiably dominated the 2001 Academy Awards. Besides awards for Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay, and Best Editing, another golden Oscar statue went to the phenomenal Benicio Del Toro for his supporting role as police officer Javier Rodriguez. Excelling in other roles were Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones.
