Festival tips for Saturday, 9 July

July 09, 2016, 8:00

The end of the Festival is nigh! Screenwriter and director Charlie Kaufman and actress Jiřina Bohdalová will receive their KVIFF President’s Awards at the closing ceremony in the Hotel Thermal's Grand Hall, where the winners of all the awards will also be revealed to us. The Non-statutory Juries Awards ceremony will take place at 15:00 in the Hotel Thermal.

As part of the closing ceremony of this year's Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, Woody Allen's new film Café Society will be presented in the Národní dům Cinema at 22:00. If you haven't seen it yet, come to the Outdoor Cinema at 23:00 for the screening of one of the festival's most popular hits - the likeable Belgian tragicomedy Hasta la vista!.

At 11:30 you will have an opportunity to meet with American actor Michael Shannon at this year's final KVIFF Talk in the Vodafone Lounge. The debate, which will be in English only, will be moderated by American journalist Scott Feinberg writing for The Hollywood Reporter.

A debate with director Dan Wlodarczyk on his film Green Horse Rustlers will commence at the Czech Television House at 13:00. The film, which will premiere in September this year, tells the story of Moldavite diggers, for whom the illegal mining of these semi-precious stones has become an uncontrollable passion as well as a livelihood. You can look forward to a concert by The Prostitutes in front of the Hotel Thermal at 20:00.

Tickets for screenings on 10 July will be available from today at the Last Minute Desk (on the stairs outside the Thermal Hotel). Tickets are free for accredited visitors and for holders of the Festival Pass valid for the last day of the Festival (9 July). Holders of this valid accreditation can choose one ticket per screening on Sunday 10 July, i.e. a maximum of three tickets. For visitors without the Festival Pass there will be tickets for purchase (CZK 80/ticket). The Last Minute Desk will be open on 9 July (8:00 – 24:00) and on 10 July (8:00 – 16.00). Screenings on 10 July will be held at the Grand Hall (Thermal Hotel) from 10:00, 13:00 and 16:00. The number of tickets is limited. Unoccupied seats will be handed out to Saturday accreditation holders based on the standard rules.
