Panic Attack

Official Selection - Competition 2018 / Atak paniki / Poland 2017

In his blackly humorous debut, talented director Paweł Maślona has submitted a consummate answer to the question whether or not a panic attack can be translated into film language. Dramatic moments in the lives of several unfortunates living in contemporary Warsaw are here presented with refreshing playfulness and a singular knack for mixing the tragic and the comic.

Panic Attack

Synopsis

A married couple returning from an exotic vacation, a seductive redhead concealing her bizarre job, a bride in an advanced state of pregnancy, a young man obsessed with a computer game, and his mother, who has a similar relationship to domesticated pets. Six stories about ordinary people in extreme situations – reminiscent in some cases of a bad dream, in others of a well-executed practical joke. Talented debut director Paweł Maślona explores dramatic moments in the lives of several schlimazels and unfortunates with refreshing playfulness and a singular knack for mixing the tragic and the comic. With a tempo that can’t help but enchant, his scathing satire submits a consummate answer to the question whether or not a panic attack can be successfully transferred to the screen.
