The Future Frames programme aims to support up-and-coming European directors.
Each year, the KVIFF’s programme team selects 10 students and film school graduates, recommended
by the European Film Promotion member organisations, to present their short and medium-length
films to the festival audience. Graduates of the programme include Michal Blaško (feature film Victim;
world premiere at the Venice Film Festival 2022), Hleb Papou (feature film The Legionnaire; Best
Emerging Director Award at the Locarno IFF 2021) and Tadeusz Łysiak (short film The Dress, Oscar
nomination 2020).
The Future Frames: Generation NEXT of European Cinema programme, organised by European Film
Promotion and Karlovy Vary IFF, helps talented European directors kickstart their careers. By
partnering with Allwyn, the world’s leading lottery operator, and thanks to co-operation with the
United Talent Agency and Range Media Partners, Future Frames is now significantly expanding the
range of opportunities it offers to young filmmakers.
