A remastered copy of the poetic film Way Through the Bleak Woods from 1997 premiered at KVIFF. It was presented by a delegation of the filmmakers – director Ivan Vojnár, director of photography Jaromír Kačer, producer Galina Šustová and Michal Černý from the remastering company – at the Saturday screening at the Small Hall.

It was followed by a discussion, where the director shared his feelings about seeing his work after more than 25 years. “Cinematography as a work of art reflects the inner world of the author or collective of filmmakers, but also the state of the society. So now, I see the film quite differently. But it is the same with other movies for me. The ones I liked in the 60s no longer speak to me,” Vojnár described.

The copy screened within the Out of the Past section was provided with Czech descriptive subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing.
