Helinho and Gaznizé meet violence in their everyday lives. Helinho goes by the nickname the Little Prince, and has killed many people in order to protect his neighbourhood. Using weapons is part of his daily struggle to survive. Gaznizé is a musician and political activist who expresses himself by means of music and musical instruments.
Synopsis
Helinho and Gaznizé are two young men who encounter violence on a daily basis. Each of them has different means for dealing with it. Helinho is known as the Little Prince and has killed countless people in order to protect his neighbourhood. He uses weapons to survive. Garnizé is a musician (playing in the rap band Faces do Subúrbio) and political activist in Camaragiba. He expresses himself through his music and his instruments. About the director
Paulo Caldas made a number of short films in Pernambuco in eastern Brazil during the 1980s. He worked on various advertising campaigns and also worked for television. With Lírio Ferrira he made the short film The Perfume Bullet which won more than 17 awards in Brazil and abroad. Marcelo Luna is a journalist; he worked as an editor and advertising campaigner for political and other organisations. He has made several video films. In 1992 he made the award-winning film Opera cholera with Paulo Caldas.
