For nine wage laborers, the Swedish forest becomes a trap. Working conditions are less than ideal and the money they earn can’t even pay for a ticket home to Africa. Francis has had enough of this lousy treatment, and he tries to solve the situation in any way he can – even at the cost of losing his personal honor and the friendship of his fellow Africans.
Synopsis
Nine African men labor hard in the middle of a Swedish forest, having left their families under the delusion of good wages and set out for what seemed like a better future. But it turns out that the pay is so small they can’t even afford the trip home and the “promised land” becomes a trap. Francis would like to solve the situation in good faith, but after the management rejects his pleas he is forced to find another way out. The consequences of his actions set in motion a chilling tale which unfolds among the community of forest workers, a drama whose theme is nothing less than the struggle to preserve personal honor or tackle racism and one’s own greed.
