News Beyond fear. A horror film about children and a portrait of an actor open the Proxima Competition

The Proxima Competition values progressive work and bold cinematic expression. Its aim is to discover new talent, but also give space to established authors who introduce a fresh style. This competition section made its debut last year, when it replaced the East of the West competition, crossing European borders to include works of artists from all over the world.

A forest, thickening darkness, abandoned house… And four children, whose father mysteriously disappears during the night. Ten-year-old Audrey and her siblings must fend for themselves as they face abandonment and the shadows that lurk in the darkness. The psychological horror film The Lost Children was created by a Belgian director and screenwriter Michèle Jacob. The world premiere of the film starts at 4:00 p.m. at the Karlovy Vary Municipal Theatre.

Aden, an aspiring actor, also has to face some rather dreadful challenges. After several humiliating auditions and some insignificant roles, he realises that he must sacrifice his moral principles and dignity if he wants to succeed.

The playfully narrated film In Camera is directed and written by a Manchester native Naqqash Khalid. His feature debut will have its world premiere at the Karlovy Vary Municipal Theatre at 7:00 p.m.
