The sixth day of the festival will unusually offer only one film in the Crystal Globe Competition. Do saints have greater significance as inanimate symbols, or as living human beings? This is the question asked in Citizen Saint, a satirical film set in an isolated mining town in Georgia. There stands a cross on the town’s main square depicting a saint, who is highly venerated by the locals. One day, the statue of the saint suddenly vanishes from the cross. When a mysterious stranger appears in town, doubts and wild theories grow among the residents, creating the perfect backdrop for an engaging film plot.
The third feature film by Georgian director Tinatin Kajrishvili entices viewers also with its carefully composed black-and-white cinematography. Its world premiere will take place in the Grand Hall of the Thermal Hotel at 8:00 p.m.
