The adaptation of Lize Spit’s bestselling novel The Melting left the audience at the Čas Cinema speechless and frozen. The directorial debut of established Belgian actress Veerle Baetens tells the story of a young Eva unable to escape her childhood trauma.
The film premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival, where Rosa Marchant, who portrays 13-year-old Eva, received a Jury Award for Best Actress. Marchant, along with her fellow actor Anthony Vyt and producer Bart Van Langendonck, introduced the drama in person. “This film may not make you happy, but it will certainly touch your feelings,” the delegation noted.
The plot turns from the desperate present to the carefree summer holidays
of the heroine’s memories, towards the the breaking point that will change her life forever.
