The Spanish melodrama Julieta is the fifteenth of Pedro Almodóvar's films to be shown at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival. This drama, which competed at Cannes, is about a problematic mother--daughter relationship and was seen by the audience in the Grand Hall today. The film's two title role actresses, Adriana Ugarte and Emma Suarez, were also present.
Emma Suarez, who will also present Official Selection film The Next Skin at the festival's screening tomorrow in the Grand Hall, plays Julieta in later life. "This moment is an emotional experience for me. The last time I was at the Karlovy Vary festival for a film was fifteen years ago. I hope you enjoy this film. It was made with immense love. And just one more comment - now you see two actresses, but when the film ends you will remember just one," the Spaniard told the audience.
The film's other star, Adriana Ugarte (whose interview you can read in today's Festival Daily) then invited the audience to a KVIFF Talk about the film today at 16:30 in Cinema C at the Hotel Thermal.
