The second-oldest film festival in the world, the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, is celebrating the 80th anniversary since its founding this year. The celebrations kicked off at the Cannes Film Festival—where the largest number of film professionals from around the world gather annually—in collaboration with Variety magazine.
The renowned American magazine, with which the Karlovy Vary festival has a long-standing partnership, organized a special beachside anniversary lunch on the beach for KVIFF. The event featured a large cake, as well as festival Executive Director Kryštof Mucha, Artistic Director Karel Och, and Rockaway Capital CEO Jakub Havrlant.
Dea Lawrence, publisher and co-president of Variety, also spoke at the event, noting that Karlovy Vary “combines the glamour of Hollywood with the youthful exuberance of the countless young cinephiles who flock from across Europe”.
The 60th anniversary edition of the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival begins on July 3.
First-hand brews throughout the year.
