The film Men Don’t Cry to be released in theaters on October 5 via KVIFF Distribution

September 25, 2017, 12:16

On Thursday, October 5 the distribution label KVIFF Distribution will see to the theater release of one of the strongest films from this year’s Karlovy Vary IFF, Men Don’t Cry, winner of a Special Jury Prize.

Writer-director Alen Drljević takes viewers to an empty mountain hotel in the off-season to witness a psychological experiment involving eight veterans of the Yugoslav Wars. The individual men, paid participants of the therapy who represent varying nationalities and ethnicities, sometimes offer up widely differing interpretations of history. Whether firsthand participants or merely witnesses to the atrocities that wracked their homeland, the reverberations still echo through their minds and few would expect them to live in mutual harmony. The Slovenian therapist (Sebastian Cavazza) who is responsible for the treatment has a tough job managing the group, a dangerously explosive mixture that can be ignited through a word carelessly expressed or a look bearing an edge of provocation.

In addition to a Special Jury Prize, Men Don’t Cry also picked up the Europa Cinemas Label at the 52nd Karlovy Vary IFF. Then in August the picture was selected to compete for Bosnia and Herzegovina for the Best Foreign Language Film Oscar.
