In the whirlwind of everyday cares there’s no time to think about nonsense. Looking after her son and elderly father so exhausts the woman that it’s difficult for her to squeeze a bit of fantasy into her daily routine. But isn’t it a shame to exclude something from her life that brings color into the drabness of the every day? All she has to do is listen to what her father and son say and start to believe that unusual things sometimes simply happen.

Synopsis

The exhausting routine of everyday worries can sometimes convince us that nothing out of the ordinary is possible. A single mother looking after her school-aged son and elderly father experiences this feeling every day. In the whirlwind of her daily duties, she fails to hear what those closest to her are trying to say. The old man and young boy swear that there is a horse walking around town, but who would believe such nonsense? And yet, how tempting to play along and to enjoy a moment of carefree joy, even if it isn’t necessarily based on truth.

About the director

Martina Buchelová (b. 1988, Rimavská Sobota, Czechoslovakia) earned her bachelor’s degree in cultural studies from Bratislava’s Comenius University in 2010, after which she studied film and television direction at the city’s Academy of Performing Arts. She spent 2012–2013 on an Erasmus scholarship at FAMU in Prague. She is currently working on her bachelor film with the working title MagicMoments and is also developing the feature film The Contest, which she submitted for the MIDPOINT programme.
