Following the success of last year’s grand opening concert, this year’s 51st Karlovy Vary International Film Festival will kick off on 1 July with a concert in front of the Hotel Thermal. The festival’s general partner joins the Karlovy Vary IFF in inviting all moviegoers and local residents to a concert of famous film melodies organized in collaboration with the Czech National Symphony Orchestra at 10:45pm in front of the Hotel Thermal.
The following day (2 July) brings the now traditional Energy Fest at the Poštovní dvůr. Thanks to the ČEZ Foundation’s Help through Movement programme, the concert will be more than a cultural event, but also benefits charity.
Another concert of movie soundtracks is being organized by the festival’s main partner, RWE. On Friday 8 July, the Mlýnská kolonáda comes alive with film music performed by the Prague Symphony Orchestra, the Moondance rhythmic section, and guitarist Michal Pavlíček.
As in the past, the Karlovy Vary Evening organized by the host city features music as well: On 6 July at 8 pm, Aneta Langerová will perform with the Karlovy Vary Symphony Orchestra at the Outdoor Cinema.
