A wealthy family withdraws from society after something unforeseen happens. When one of its members leaves the house on the pretext of paying an innocent visit to someone outside, the family’s fragile equilibrium is disturbed. In Broad Daylight presents an inscrutable, tantalisingly elusive fictional world enhanced by a colourful array of absurd characters.

Synopsis

A wealthy family withdraws from society for a period of eight months. 17-year-old Hélène has given birth and no-one wants news of this unforeseen event to reach the outside world. However, the fragile equilibrium of the family’s ecosystem is disturbed when the daughter, on the pretext of leaving the house to visit someone, goes off in search of the father of her child, with whom she spent a single night. In his third feature film Emmanuel Tardif presents an inscrutable, tantalisingly elusive fictional world enhanced by a colourful array of absurd characters. Despite limited funding he strives for a clearly formulated creative vision and demonstrates that young Québécois filmmakers are boldly seeking to grab our attention.
