The Eight Mountains The Eight Mountains

Synopsis

Bruno hails from a remote Alpine village; Pietro is a son of the city. Despite their different backgrounds, the two men are bound by a strong friendship, which begins in childhood but is fully developed in adulthood. Whether on their own or together, they both seek answers to life in the silent embrace of the majestic mountains. Paolo Cognetti’s novel about searching for the meaning of life and the value of friendship has been brought to the big screen by Felix van Groeningen and his partner Charlotte Vandermeersch. The main roles are played by two leading Italian actors Luca Marinelli and Alessandro Borghi. An intimate story set amidst the spectacular panoramas of the Alps and Nepal, Eight Mountains took home the Jury Prize in the main competition at this year’s festival in Cannes.
