Synopsis

Rakib, whose only previous job had been to watch over an abandoned estate, is presented with entirely new opportunities when its owner returns and makes Rakib his assistant – or, rather, his personal servant. It is a role he was essentially destined to inherit from his father, who is currently in prison. At first glance, the chance to contribute to the retired general’s future endeavors is an enticing one, but the more Rakib peers behind the scenes of power and sees the dark side of this fatherly Mephisto, the more keenly he feels the burden of responsibility and the moral dilemmas associated with his new position. The film was awarded the FIPRESCI prize at the Venice Film Festival.
