Pornomelancholía

Horizons 2023 / Pornomelancholía / Argentina, Brazil, France 2022

Pornomelancholía Pornomelancholía

Synopsis

The quiet, brooding, but attractive young welder Lalo becomes a porn actor. On the set of a film about a Mexican revolutionary and his “boys,” he feels what is perhaps his first sense of comradeship with others like him who are “out,” but the experience also exposes him to the mechanical and soulless nature of the business of physical pleasure. Both sides of his new life become even more tangible when his career moves onto social networks. Besides the melancholy of its title, this thematically rich film – a blend of fiction and reality – also explores various levels of intimacy and sharing, and at times dares to engage in an entertaining polemic with traditional macho culture.
