The celebration of the 50th Karlovy Vary IFF became an opportunity to look back at the history of an event that has been very colourful, and sometimes even quite dramatic.
There was a particularly strong response among visitors this year to the publication of The Story of a Festival, which maps out the individual periods of the festival and was written by long-time KVIFF artistic director, now artistic advisor, Eva Zaoralová. She attended the festival for years as a journalist before becoming the head of its programme, and her wealth of experience with prestigious festivals abroad provides an eclectic view of our own most important festival of cinematography. The publication reaches into the distant and more recent past to offer a whole gallery of unique photography as well as a comprehensive overview of the facts.
If you were not able to purchase the book in Karlovy Vary, you will have the chance to do so even after the festival. The Story of the Festival will be available at the popular shop for film books, posters and artefacts Terryho ponožky in Prague’s Světozor cinema or in the Terryho ponožky e-shop: http://www.terryhoponozky.cz. And then you can have the festival at home!
First-hand brews throughout the year.
