This year’s International Competition featured 15 films from 13 countries, including the Czech republic. The five members of the Jury, who awarded the Main Prize worth 2000 Euro, consisted of Jenny Sue (American independent filmmaker), Patricia Drati (Danish producer), Steve Gove (founder and director of Prague Fringe Festival), Daniel Vadocký (programmer) and Aleš Rumpel (director of Mezipatra organization). The Jury made a surprisingly easy and unanimous decision to award the Main Prize to the thirteen minutes long Denmark and Finland coproduction film Listen. The jury especially appreciated “how economically and surgically precise the filmmakers used the language of cinema to express the biggest need of all: the freedom of expression in the face of oppression and discrimination. We wish the two directors will be lost in translation for the rest of their lives. In other worlds, bloody brilliant film.”
First-hand brews throughout the year.
