Where you can see the stars at KVIFF?

Uma Thurman, actress

On Friday 30 June at 5 pm, Thurman will greet festivalgoers on the red carpet in front of the Hotel Thermal's Grand Hall.

At the opening ceremony, Thurman will personally receive the KVIFF President’s Award.

On Sunday 2 July at 10:30 pm at the Outdoor Cinema, Uma Thurman will present Quentin Tarantino’s cult movie Kill Bill. ​The programme features both parts of this epic story of passion, betrayal and the sweet taste of revenge, originally released separately in cinemas.

Admission to the Outdoor Cinema is free!

Casey Affleck, actor

At 5pm on Friday 30 June, Affleck will greet festivalgoers on the red carpet in front of the Hotel Thermal’s Grand Hall.

At the opening ceremony, Affleck will personally receive the KVIFF President’s Award.

At 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, 2 July, he will introduce the screening of A Ghost Story in the Hotel Thermal’s Grand Hall, together with director David Lowery and producers Toby Halbrooks and James M. Johnston.

The same delegation will be present at KVIFF Talk at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, 2 July, in the Congress Hall. The film’s creators will share their experiences from their past collaborative efforts, and also from filming of their most upcoming film The Old Man and the Gun. The session is hosted by Scott Feinberg of The Hollywood Reporter.

James Newton Howard, composer

On Friday 30 June at 5 pm Howard will greet festivalgoers on the red carpet in front of the Hotel Thermal’s Grand Hall.

At the opening ceremony, Howard will personally receive a Crystal Globe for Outstanding Contribution to World Cinema.

On Friday 30 June at 10:45 pm at the opening concert in front of the Hotel Thermal, Howard will personally conduct the world premiere performance of part of his music to the fantasy film Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, performed by the Czech National Symphony Orchestra.

On Saturday 1 July at 4 pm, James Newton Howard will give a Master Class in the Hotel Thermal’s Congress Hall, during which he will present his work and, using excerpts from film and live piano, reveals the mystery of composing film music.

The Master Class will be hosted by American film critic and historian Leonard Maltin and composer Jan P. Muchow.

Ken Loach, director
Paul Laverty, screenwriter

On Monday 3 July at 2 pm, prior to the screening of Sweet Sixteen in the Hotel Thermal’s Grand Hall, Laverty and Loach will receive the Crystal Globe for Outstanding Contribution to World Cinema.

On Tuesday 4 July at 2 pm, both artists will participate in a KVIFF Talk about their approach to filmmaking. The talk will be held in the Hotel Thermal’s Vodafone Lounge.

Václav Vorlíček, director

On Tuesday 4 July at 4 pm, Vorlíček will present Who Wants to Kill Jessie? at Karlovy Vary’s Municipal Theatre. Upon arrival, he will greet festivalgoers on the red carpet.

On Saturday 8 July at 5 pm, Vorlíček will greet festivalgoers on the red carpet when arriving at the closing ceremony.

At the closing ceremony, he will receive a KVIFF President’s Award for Contribution to Czech Cinema.

Jeremy Renner, actor

On Friday 7 July at 3 pm, Renner will introduce the screening of Wind River in the Hotel Thermal’s Grand Hall.

After the screening, Renner will participate in a KVIFF Talk hosted by the festival’s artistic director Karel Och.

On Saturday 8 July at 5 pm, Renner will greet festivalgoers on the red carpet when arriving at the closing ceremony.

At the closing ceremony, he will receive a KVIFF President’s Award.

Trudie Styler, director

On Friday 7 July at 4 pm, Styler will introduce the screening of Freak Show at Karlovy Vary’s Municipal Theatre.

Jasmine Trinca, actress

On Monday 3 July at 11:30 am, Trinca will introduce the screening of Fortunata in the Hotel Thermal’s Grand Hall.

Lambert Wilson, Céline Sallette, actors

On Sunday 2 July at 5 pm, Wilson and Sallette will introduce the premiere of the French film-in-competition Corporate in the Hotel Thermal’s Grand Hall.

On Monday 3 July at 10 am, they will introduce a screening of Corporate at the Hotel Pupp; the screening will be followed by a Q&A with the audience.
